The best drugs in the world -- dentists have them. No shet. They do. I only happened upon this information after foolishly waiting too long to get a root canal, and having to spring for an implant to replace a big ol' abscessed molar in the back of my mouth. First, they had to pull it. I went in, had my x-ray and consult, and the day arrived for THE EXTRACTION. I was nervous, got my parents to drive me as I was warned to have a driver after sedation, and my honey was working his usual vampire shift. (This of course, was a HUGE mistake, but I had limited choices at the time.) So we get there, I'm ushered into the inner sanctum, my hair covered with a surgical shower cappy thing, and the dentist comes in, informs me he is starting the iv, we said a few more sentences, and bang, zoom, it was time to go home. No weird dreams, no strange anesthetic dry mouth, no grog, no lingering vagueness, no nothing. These were the best drugs in the world. This brings to mind a new business idea -- Sedated Airlines. We could do this for international or even domestic air travel. Think about it. Arrive at the airport, check your bags, get in your seat, get the IV, wake up in Seattle, or Paris, or wherever. And, if you so desire, we could install dentists and hygenists instead of flight attendants and you could have your minor work done while in flight. No overhead, no watered drinks, no pesky peanuts, no draggy inflight movies, perfect. Yup. We'd completely eliminate the travel angst that has settled over us, everyone just IV's through the friendly skies. We could have a good bingo, as my friend Cardiogirl says.
So tomorrow I have to go back and get my second stab at the BDITW. I will make sure I ask just exactly what they are before my flight. uh, whatever. Two good things -- Chuck is taking me (YAY ) and this is the last time I have to do this -- they are putting a metal post down where the tooth came out. I fully expect to be out of it maybe a half a day. We'll see. And I'll be sure to report here after my second encounter.
