Yet again, the end of the week signals a return to the kitchen to muse about munchies. It's the weekly Four Foods on Friday meme, brought to us by the good folks at Fun, Crafts and Recipes. Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. What’s your favorite form of potatoes?
Again with the having to pick one! In the winter, I love good garlic mashed potatoes with roast gravy and green peas alllll mixed up together, or a lovely baked potato, either all the way with sour cream, cheese, chives, bacon, or just simply butter and salt, or I've even enjoyed a salsa-topped baker when feeling especially healthy. Summertime brings those small red yummies, which I love to boil and then toss with turkey bacon, blanched broccoli, green olives, celery, onion and bell pepper, dressed with olive oil, vinegar, basil, oregano, salt and pepper and call it my potato salad. And don't EVEN get me started on fries..
#2. Pie crust. Premade or from scratch?
Again, it depends. If I have the time and inclination, I make pie crust from scratch. If it is a weeknight and hubby is just CRAVING apple pie, then premade has to do it.
#3. Vegetables. Fresh, frozen or canned?
Fresh when in season and plentiful, frozen if not, canned usually tomatoes, artichoke hearts or beans.
#4. What one dish do you wish you could prepare better?
I have never really developed a good low fat homemade mac and cheese recipe. I wish I could get that one down, and wish it could take the place of easy mac in the house forever. Max's insides must be that orange color not found in nature by now!
