Exhibit A - the BBBrownies

Okay, they're made. I took a low-fat brownie mix, rinsed a can of black beans, put them back in the can, filled the gap with water again, pureed them in the processor, dumped, stirred, plopped in a 13 by 9 pan, and 40 minutes later: Voila. NOTE: I added five minutes to the baking time as per Deb's instructions, they seem to be moister than usual so they need that extra baking.

There is no trace of telltale beany taste. Trust me, I've eaten four in the spirit of thorough research. Okay, we'll call it dinner. Maxwell and his dad have yet to sample. Max has been under the weather all day, he hasn't really been getting his beauty sleep with all the summer camp going on around here. Oh, and for the record, Deb called earlier, and she said she wanted to make it clear that she had more issues with whole wheat pasta's relentless chewiness than its actual taste, but she also says that life is too short to eat bad pasta. And when she puts it that way, I wholeheartedly agree.

Next time I make these (yes, there WILL be a next time...), I will make a few changes, I think. I'll get a full-fat brownie mix, and use a 9 by 9. With no egg to help them rise, they are a little thin on the edges, but the rich fudginess does kind of make up for that.
