When I Grow Up, I Want to Be Tina Fey.

Yes, this is my latest ambition. Never mind that I am already a good fifteen years older than she is, and can never hope to parody Sarah "I can see Russia from my house" Palin, or make an American Express commercial with Marty Scorsese (um, like I could call him Marty, all apologies, um, Mr. Scorsese, Sir) or be on Saturday Night Live or write comedy for major TV talent. But if I got a shot at all that, I could. I mean, if I grew up to be Tina Fey. The Elaine May of her generation, so says Alec Baldwin.

Hey Tina, what I really mean, in a totally non-stalking, one writer to the next, kind of way: Thank you. I appreciate your talent and your casual attitude about it all. And you know, I hope you do go home and jump on all the beds and hoot and scream and laugh yourself silly about all this, because the most fun is doing something you love, getting a decent chunk of change for it, and knowing that even if they're all watching you, you are who you are and you do what makes you happy. An amazing and a rare thing to see.
