Yes, I've caved. I've gone video, I've given in to the siren song of pictures AND noise. I've taken a job at a *gasp* TV station. Marconi reels in his grave. Yeah, right, get over it. Not gonna be on the radio any more, these TV guys have successfully made an offer that includes the latitude to hire back my cleaning ladies and possibly pay all the bills as well. I will be the station's Executive Producer, which I think will mean I'll be doing a little of everything and a huge amount of event planning, production coordination, research, writing, website design, client schmooze, promotion brainstorming and whatever it will take.
I will be commuting to the 20-mile-away metropolis (heh) of Lafayette, and I will miss the gang at the station. I won't miss the cold calling, or the small-town mentality I got squished up against. I'm looking forward to the new gig, it will be using more of my brain cells, which is a definitely good thing, and I won't have to make one cold call on someone whose measly media budget will have a negative effect on my paycheck. THAT is definitely a good thing. And let's hope this is the last NEW thing for a while. I could use a bit of settling and advancing.
